Unfortunately Jonathan doesn't really like to date.
He's gotten involved
a couple of times, but nothing really serious.
He's been in love a couple
of times - (Ed: Jonathan the lovesick puppy???
Nah!!), and a lot of his
female friends now, are his ex-girlfriends.
STAR!: Do you like girls who stand up to you?
JB: Yeah, the most important things is that a
girl should be very secure with
herself. I don't want to be out with a
girl and have to constantly tell
her she's okay, that she doesn't have to
worry and that she looks all
right. Insecure girls I find are very
difficult to communicate with.
They are very frustrating for me. I like
girls who know how to be sexy
and are aware of their sexuality. Girls
who are not too candid but not
too hidden about it, either!
Jon's pretty secretive about these things. He
likes to keep them private. Anyhow, he doesn't
have a girlfriend at the moment, and apparantely
doesn't want one (for the time being anyhow). He
doesn't really like to date either.
STAR! Magazine Interviewed Jonathan
STAR!: What do you like in a girl?
JB: A girl has to be very emotionally strong. I find
that very necessary. It's also because this business
throws a lot of pressure on you, and I wouldn't want
my girlfriend to feel weak or disappointed if I am
doing a movie with another girl. I don't want jealousy
to come into the picture if I go away to do a movie
and she feels I can't be trusted. Besides that, I look
for girls who are fun and interesting. I like people
who intrigue me and who can debate with me. At the
moment I'd be happy just to have a girl to go and see
a movie with and have some fun!

SOME LITTLE FACTS ABOUT JON:Given his middle
name from his fathers and his
first from a "cool guy" that caught the bus
Greg would drive. Little did Mary
and Greg know that their son would become an
almost overnight success. They
had gotten many compliments on how adorable
Jonathan was and what a great
little actor he was while he would ham it up
on home videos. They didn't take
it seriously until they did some serious
thinking. They considered giving it a
try and whisked 2 year old Jon off to New
York for an audition for a Buster
Brown Shoes advertisement.
It seemed to have gone great and after a
few days
past he had gotten the audition. Jon makes
his debut on the Buster Brown Shoes
poster. Every day they would take trips to
modeling agencys, photographers &
agents. They were long trips, but they were
worth it. By the age of 6 Jon was
working as a print model and would do an
occasional commercial. Soon he managed
to get a small part on the TV soap One
Life To Live. He also guest-starred on
Another World!
After Jon turned 9 Greg decided it would
be easier to live closer to Jons jobs, so
they all packed up and moved to San Fernando
Valley right outside of LA. His mother
became his manager and his father quit his
bus driving job and found a job distributing
for Pepperidge Farm. Now they escape the city
life but are close enough to it so
driving far isnt too much of an option.
Almost immediatly he won a role on the series
The Poor Little Rich Girl: A Barbara
Hutton Story starring Farrah Fawcett. During
this time he also starred in movies with
small roles until 1990 when he starred as
Bill in the tv version of Stephen Kings IT.
He played his part of a chronic stutterer
fairly well. *just saying that makes ya
stutter =)* Later that year Jon was shipped
off to Germany to film The Neverending
Story: Part II. He played the part of
Bastian Baltazar Bux who saves Fantasia from
the true Nothingness. *You have to see it to
get what I'm sayin here*
Jon loved touring Germany and Europe during
his stay and had an experience he will
never forget: he had been on a real submarine!
Obviously this set of his career big time.
He won many television roles like Blossom,
Saved By The Bell and Full House.
Although Jon was pretty busy he insisted on
staying in Public School with his friends
instead of Private or a Home tutor. Jon
worked hard for a series yet it seems no one
would give him a chance. "All of my friends
were working on a serious job and I would
wonder 'when will it happen for me?'" Jon
says.
FUTURE DREAMS:Jon wants to write, direct
and produce movies, as well as keep acting.
He also wants to take another tour of Europe.
He was named after a cool boy on his
father's old bus route.
His career began at the age of 2 as a
poster model on a Buster Brown Shoes ad.
He graduated from the Valley Professional
School in 1993, where he doubled up his
courses in the last year.
He helps out in the "Make-A-Wish" charity
foundation for kids.
He used to get over 4000 fan mail letters
each week.
He was never good in school and he often
got into fights.
He got first kiss when he was twelve, in
the back of a school bus, and he did you-
know-what three years later,hopefully not
in the back of a bus.
He has a habit of chewing on pens when he
writes.
He knows how to play the trumpet and the
piano.
His favourite stuffed animal from his
childhood is a cuddly bear named Teddy,
which his grandfather bought for him in
Germany.
Jonathan Brandis has never posed nude.
His first fan letter that he received
is framed on his wall....it was about
this pilot show that never got aired on
tv.... (info provided by Jane Lane)
He now drives a black Jeep Grand Cheerokee.
Jonathan actually chooses to do his own
laundry, including ironing his shirts.
A JB DAY: 1:30 PM - Come back from lunch
and do more of the show. I take breaks now
and then to ride Backdraft or Back to the
Future [the rides]
He has a habit of chewing on pens when he
writes.
Question: Jonathan, was it difficult
working with the mechanical dolphin in
'Seaquest?'
JBrandis: Yeah, we also had a mechanical
Roy Schneider, That was tougher.
QUOTE: The things I enjoy most about acting
are probably the people and jobs and the
locations and the stories and the characters
and the whole aspect of changing roles and
changing between comedy and drama and horror.
The thing I like least about it is waking up
early in the morning.
BOP: Do you ever see yourself as a role model?
Jon: Um, yeah. It's tough to recongnize yourself
sometimes as a role model. I don't know if I can
honestly say I am. I think to some extent I am.
I mean, I try to say the right things and give
the right advice. But still, I'm only a person.
QUOTE: I think my body could use some more muscles.
Fitnessing is not going so well yet though, I
happen to be more than just a little bit lazy.
QUOTE: The first album I got was Michael Jackson's
Thriller, in 1984. I played it to death. I knew
every single syllable he spoke on that album.
BOP: What would be your ideal role to play? Jon:
My ideal role? An ´´Indiana Jones´´-type character.
I would love to do that. I remember when I saw
[Raiders of the Lost Ark] and I just wanted so
badly to have that outfit, and to have that whip,
you know, and just swing on vines and stuff!
I'd love that type of role. I'd have fun with
any period piece like that.
Astrologically speaking, Jonathan is an Aries
(As is am I). If you buy into this stuff, you
know that means he's ambitious, adventurous,
charismatic, protective of others and a
rendsetter.
Q: So you are not vain?
A: Well, sometimes I am, sometimes not. It
depends what kind of mood I'm in. One time
I can stand fiddling in front of the mirror
for an hour and another time I think: well
hack, this is just the best it can get. Only
if I have to go to work I really try to look
fantastic.
He has 27 first cousins
QUOTE: I hope I am also judged on my
accomplishments as an actor and not just on
my pretty face!
A JB DAY: 7:20 PM - Get home and relax, watch
T.V. and stuff. 7:30 - Talk on the phone,
arrange photo shoots or interviews for another
day or the weekend. 8PM - Eat Dinner. I like
Corn Pops.
QUOTE: I'd like to play Luke Skywalker in the
next 'Star Wars' movies. That would be cool!
QUOTE: Thai food... you see, that's too cultured
for me.
QUOTE: I'd love to film or produce or direct a
movie with special effects in it---or even without
them. I don't think I'll ever go into the special-
effects industry, only because I don't know if
that's the right area for me. I just love film-
making.
He collects movie memorabilia and Mad magazines.
QUOTE: I think my body could use some more muscles.
Fitnessing is not going so well yet though, I happen
to be more than just a little bit lazy.
According to his dad, Greg, if Jonathan had been
born a girl, he would have been named Fay, after
Greg's father, Fay William..
QUOTE: Next to the things everybody does like
smoking and drinking behind your parent's back,
I did forge a drivers license when I was sixteen.
Question: Jonathan, did you enjoy making the movie
'Ladybugs?'
JBrandis: Yeah, I remember it being fun. I didn't
want to dress up like a girl initially, because I
was like this insecure 15 year old at the time.<
QUOTE: Roy Schneider was cool. I learned quite a
bit from him.
He likes clothes from the Gap, especially flannel
shirts, khaki pants and other comfortable, casual
items
QUOTE: I admitt, I did take a small joint once,
but I soon realised what the consequences would be
when I would begin taking harddrugs.
Q: Have you ever seen a UFO?
A: No, except on The X-Files. I think if I did
see one it wouldn't be that scary because you
don't go around expecting to see one.
QUOTE: I'd like to play Luke Skywalker in the
next 'Star Wars' movies. That would be cool!
